Job Summary:

Note: This position is a seasonal part time summer position with a 35 hour work week (Monday to Friday)

To provide administrative support to the Chief Administrative Officer, Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer, and other Administrative Staff and Members of Council/Committees as required. This position will assist with various financial analysis duties, perform a range of daily and monthly accounting functions and responsibilities including: general ledger analysis as required; month-end reconciliations; month-end reports. The Accounting Office Assistant participates in various projects, policy research and in the development of special reports, as well as daily office tasks.

Duties And Responsibilities:

1. Assists the Deputy Treasurer with preparing and mailing tax billings, maintaining the assessment roll and providing for the collection and adjustment of taxes (current and arrears).
2. Answers enquiries and/or directs enquiries where necessary to appropriate personnel.
3. Assists with bookkeeping services using accounting principles for fees and revenues paid.
4. Assists with processing receipts, preparing bank deposits, and posting of payments for taxes and miscellaneous revenues.
5. Assists with preparing invoices for Accounts Receivable and posting of corresponding journal entries. 
6. Assists with stamping and distributing invoices to appropriate Department Managers.
7. Processes incoming / outgoing mail and distributes to the appropriate staff member or department. Process items delivered or picked up by Couriers.
8. Assists in Reception area for all functions ensuring enhanced customer service.
9. Assists with maintaining files relating to duties and responsibilities according to Records Retention By-Law.
10. Ensures the security and confidentiality of all records and personal information under the control of the Corporation of the Township of North Kawartha in accordance with legislation.
11. Assists with monthly G/L reconciliation as required.
12. Any other duties as assigned through immediate supervisor. 



Internal: With Council members and co-workers for the purpose of obtaining and sharing information to complete work assignments.

External: With various Municipal/Provincial/Federal agencies, municipal auditors and solicitors, to provide and obtain information. With the general public to provide information, ensuring polite and tactful relations

Working Conditions:

Exposure to a normal office environment. Visual and mental concentration required with respect to detail (figures) and visual display terminal. Some manual labour required in relation to the moving and arranging of file boxes. Occasional travel outside the office to attend meetings, seminars, and for routine office tasks may be required.

Job Knowledge:

Computer literacy utilizing accounting software, word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet and related software.

Excellent public relations, organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
